We rank restaurants and we sell ads on the same pages. That is a conflict, and the only honest way to handle it is to write down the rules in public and let you hold us to them.
1. Rankings are never sold
No shop can buy a position, buy a better position, or buy removal of a competitor. No advertiser, promoted listing, or claimed-page subscriber receives any editorial consideration whatsoever. If we ever accept a payment that touches the rankings, this site stops being worth reading and we will have destroyed the only asset it has.
2. Advertising is always labeled
Every advertisement on this site is marked as an advertisement. Promoted listings inside a ranking area carry a visible paid-placement label, are visually distinct from editorial entries, and are excluded from the numbering. We do not run advertising designed to be mistaken for editorial content, and we do not place ad units where they could be confused for a ranking.
3. Affiliate links are disclosed
Some outbound ordering and delivery links may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission if you order through them. Where that is the case the link is marked sponsored. An affiliate relationship never determines whether a shop is listed or where it ranks. We link to a shop's own ordering page in preference to a third-party app wherever the shop has one.
4. We pay for our own food
Tastings are paid for out of pocket at menu prices. We do not accept comped meals, press dinners, gift cards, or hosted visits in exchange for coverage. If a shop recognizes us and refuses payment, we leave the money anyway and note it.
5. Claimed pages are informational, not editorial
A shop owner who claims their page for $5 a year controls their own hours, menu links, photos, and story. They do not control the ranking, the editorial description, or reader reviews. Owner-supplied content is clearly attributable to the owner. We reserve the right to remove owner content that is false, defamatory, or unrelated to the business.
6. Reviews are moderated by a human
Every reader review is read before it publishes. We reject reviews that appear to originate from the business or a competitor, reviews that target named employees, reviews describing conduct we cannot verify, and reviews that are really complaints about a delivery platform. We do not edit the substance of a published review, and we do not delete negative reviews at an owner's request.
7. Corrections are published, not buried
When we get something wrong we fix it, date it, and say what changed. Corrections stay visible on the page rather than being silently overwritten. A shop that has closed is marked closed rather than deleted, so old links still explain themselves.
8. Conflicts are declared
Tacobout.town is published by CUETV LLC. If we ever have a financial interest in a business we cover beyond ordinary advertising, we will disclose it on the page in question. As of publication, we hold no ownership interest in any restaurant listed on this site.
9. AI disclosure
This site is built and maintained with substantial AI assistance in drafting and development. Factual claims about specific businesses — awards, locations, specialties — are sourced to published reporting or the business's own materials, and are attributed on the page. AI assistance does not change our responsibility for what appears here; errors are ours.
10. Hold us to it
If you believe we have broken any of the above, write to us. We would rather publish an embarrassing correction than quietly keep a reader who has stopped trusting us.
